Leadership Development Project

AMAZING OPPORTUNITY FOR A "NATURAL LEADER"

Are you or do you know a “natural leader” on campus?

We are looking for a few middle school and high school students to become leaders in preventing violence in schools and in the communities. These students may not be traditional leaders, but have natural leadership abilities.

Attend Leadership Development Camp…

ICAN will pay all expenses for selected youth to attend the Superheroes Summer Leadership Development Camp.   The camp, sponsored by the American Red Cross, Long Beach Chapter, will be held August 13-17, 2007 at Camp Pilgrim Pines in Yucaipa, CA.

The student leader will gain experience in:

Leadership Development:

Team building, interpersonal communications, problem-solving, decision-making, conflict resolution and group dynamics.

Community Involvement:

Service learning, volunteerism, local and global service, project planning, ethics and diversity, social issues.

Preparedness:

Red Cross training and responding to emergencies.

The junior camp is for middle school youth (entering grades 6 to 8 in fall 2007), while the senior camp is for high school youth (entering grades 9 to graduating seniors in fall 2007).  At both camps, youth delegates will be involved in various activities, games, and team-building exercises that are age appropriate and led by peer camp staff.
