Despite the size and diversity of Los Angeles County, an inspiring level of collaboration is occurring to bring hope and resources to the thousands of children in foster care. This is a unique and comprehensive effort to address the need for mentor programs specifically designed for foster youth.

The partnership among ICAN, ICAN Associates, the Los Angeles County Departments of Children and Family Services (DCFS) and Juvenile Probation has become a critical component in bringing together the many agencies, advocates programs and legislators who touch the lives of foster children. The partners are working to bring resources to community agencies, group homes, and foster family agencies who know first hand how important a long-term caring adult can be to a child in foster care. Many times these children have been in dozens of foster homes without a consistent person to give them a sense of direction, confidence and purpose.
