FREE GRIEF WORKSHOP THIS HOLIDAY SEASON PROVIDED BY NEW HOPE GRIEF SUPPORT COMMUNITY IN LONG BEACH (Community Event Provides Grieving Families Specific Strategies for Managing the Holidays)

LONG BEACH, CA --- New Hope Grief Support Community, on Thursday, December 5, 2018 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m., will be hosting a grief workshop: New Hope for the Holidays: A Conversation About Grief. This free community event will take place at Parkcrest Church in the Center Building, located at 5950 Parkcrest Ave. Long Beach, CA 90808. The evening will include an inspirational speaker, a panel discussion with Katie Davidson, Larry Krueger, and Verniel Monk who will be sharing about their personal life experiences with grief and the holidays. The evening will end with a candle lighting ceremony honoring our loved ones who have died. Refreshments will be provided and each attendee will receive a free resource guide for grieving during the holidays. For those who have experienced a death of a loved one, the holidays can heighten the feelings of anxiety, sadness, longing, loneliness, guilt, and even anger. Activities that are meant to bring families together can be strained and difficult, but there are ways to cope with these challenges and make the time enjoyable. This community event will help you pay attention to what matters in the holiday season. Attendees will learn specific strategies for managing the activities and emotions that come along during this time of year. Each attendee will receive a free copy of A Practical Guide for Greiving During the Holidays. The goal is that participants will leave renewed and ready to reclaim the holidays. “The holiday season is already stressful for many people; for those who are grieving the death of a loved one it can be even more challenging,” said David Leonard, Executive Director of New Hope Grief Support Community. “Grieving families need to have a plan for the holidays, New Hope wants to provide support in a safe environment and provide the proper tools to help them make their holidays a little more comfortable – this event provides that opportunity.” The event is intended for adults in the community who have experienced the death of a loved one, and those who are supporting grieving family or friends.
